TRCO’s Tree-Planting Initiative in Missenyi, Kagera

One of the key goals of the Tanzania Research and Conservation Organization (TRCO) is to educate local communities on the impacts of climate change, emphasizing its effects on biodiversity and community livelihoods. In pursuit of this goal, TRCO actively collaborates with local communities, government authorities, and other stakeholders to mitigate the effects of climate change, notably through tree-planting campaigns across Tanzania.

This year, TRCO partnered with the Missenyi District government in Kagera Region to launch a tree-planting initiative. This campaign brought together district leaders, local primary schools, and community members, creating a collective effort to restore local ecosystems, improve air quality, and combat soil erosion.

The project also gained national recognition, as it was visited by the National Torch bearer, symbolizing the importance of sustainability and environmental restoration for Tanzania’s future.

Through efforts like these, TRCO remains committed to fostering environmental stewardship and empowering communities to protect their local biodiversity through tree planting for local ecological restoration. We invite everyone to join us in this mission, working together to address and reduce the harmful impacts of climate change
