TRCO attends the 4th African Congress for Conservation Biology (ACCB)

From October 19-21, 2024, TRCO participated in a scientific conference organized by the Society of Conservation Biology at the College of African Wildlife Management, Mweka. The conference-themed “Celebrating Africa’s Unsung Conservation Heroes: Rangers and Local Communities on the Frontline.” The team presented on the pangolin insight in Tanzania, and what TRCO has achieved so far in Pangolin conservation. Specifically, TRCO presented findings related to Habitat Suitability, Illegal Uses, community’s Perspectives, and Pangolin Offtake in key landscapes from the Burigi-Chato-Minziro landscape, the Tarangile-Manyara landscape, Amani-Nilo corridor, and Nyerere-Selous-Udzungwa landscapes.  Attending this gathering was a great opportunity to bring attention to Tanzania’s urgent need for pangolin conservation.

Presenting what TRCO has achieved in the pangolin research and conservation project in Tanzania.

This platform allowed TRCO to spotlight the urgency of conserving pangolins in Tanzania. We extend our gratitude to our partners and supporters USAID Tanzania (USAID Tuhifadhi Maliasili Project), WWF Education For Nature, and the Conservation Leadership Program (CLP), and Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) for their great support in pangolin research and conservation efforts in Tanzania.
