Working Together for Tanzania’s Wildlife
TRCO’s research and conservation work is made possible by partners who share our commitment to Tanzania’s biodiversity. We work with grant-making foundations, conservation organizations, universities, government institutions and businesses to design and deliver projects that protect wildlife and support the communities living alongside it.
If your organization is looking for a trusted Tanzanian partner for research, conservation or community programmes, we would welcome a conversation.
Ways to Partner With TRCO
There are several ways organizations and individuals can support our work. Each partnership is shaped together with the partner, around shared goals and the needs on the ground.
Fund a project
Co-fund one of our current projects or join us on a grant application. We bring field experience, strong local relationships and research capacity across key Tanzanian landscapes.
Research and academic collaboration
Joint studies, data sharing and co-authored publications, plus supervision and field placements for students and early-career researchers.
Business and tourism partners
Safari operators, lodges and other businesses can support field conservation, for example by contributing a share of each booking to a TRCO project.
In-kind support
Field equipment such as camera traps, GPS units, binoculars and vehicles makes a real difference to research and monitoring in remote landscapes.
Skills and expertise
Professionals and visiting researchers can share expertise in areas such as data analysis, GIS, science communication and organizational development.
Projects Open for Partnership
These are our current focus areas. Each one has opportunities for co-funding, research collaboration and community engagement.
- Pangolin conservation: population and distribution research, community awareness and action against illegal trade.
- Human-elephant coexistence: reducing conflict between people and elephants in the Burigi landscape of northwestern Tanzania.
- Giraffe conservation: research on Masai giraffe populations, habitat and threats.
- Rondo dwarf galago: surveying and protecting one of the world’s rarest primates in Tanzania’s coastal forests.
- Community-led ecosystem restoration: restoring forests, rivers and freshwater sources with the communities who depend on them.
Who Has Supported Our Work
Our projects have been funded by partners including WWF’s Education for Nature Program, USAID, the Rufford Foundation, the Giraffe Conservation Foundation and the Conservation Leadership Programme.
We implement our work together with the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI), Tanzania Wildlife Authority (TAWA), Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA), COSTECH, Sokoine University of Agriculture and the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government.
